WE HAVE BUILT A REPUTATION FOR CREATING ENDURING AND THOUGHTFULLY DESIGNED WORKS OF ARCHITECTURE IN CHARLESTON AND THROUGHOUT THE LOWCOUNTRY.

We believe that the built and natural world are inextricably linked. People and communities are at their healthiest when these bonds are maintained and strengthened through thoughtful, high-quality design where the context shapes the outcome.

MEET SIMONS

Simons Young has lived in and experienced such great cities as Paris, Genoa, San Francisco, and Charlottesville. From each of these places he has developed an intense interest in historic buildings, their materials and methods of construction, and their contributions to the urban experience.

After working with Page & Turnbull in San Francisco, Simons returned to Charleston with a firm background in historic buildings. Since 2009 Simons Young + associates has gained a reputation as a thoughtful and resourceful architecture practice with a deep-rooted understanding of the complexities of designing in the historic city.

MEET STEVE

Steve Diesing has over thirty years of experience in architecture. His expertise in assembly of construction documents is complemented by a shrewd eye for design implementation. Steve serves as an excellent resource for large commercial projects and new custom residential construction. Steve gained his architecture graduate degree in St. Louis at Washington University, and spent several years there working with historic buildings.

MEET TOM

Tom Wales is an architect who has focused his career on the adaptive reuse of historic structures. He worked in downtown Boston for over six years, focusing on the reuse of historic structures for higher education and museum clients such as Dartmouth College, the Concord Museum, and the Peabody Essex Museum.

After designing and managing projects in Boston for over six years, Tom relocated to South Carolina to continue his work in the historic fabric of downtown Charleston. His background in the arts and interest in history give depth to his work and allow his projects to relate to their surroundings.

MEET SCHUYLER

Schuyler Clogston is a designer with experience working in existing and historic buildings. During her studies at the University of Kansas, Schuyler participated in community design build work in Haiti. Schuyler worked in Turkey as an apprentice to an archaeologist, assisting with architectural drawings and documentation, before returning to Kansas to work for architecture firm Gould Evans. Schuyler actively collaborates on design and project management at the studio.
